16. Chuck Burgi

The newest episode of Guess That Record is the first to be recorded outside of Calgary, as Jackson travelled to Seattle to interview Chuck Burgi for the second time! Chuck is currently the drummer for Billy Joel, a role he’s held since 2006. Chuck has also worked with artists like Hall & Oates, Meatloaf, Blue Öyster Cult, and many more. Jackson and Chuck met up the day before Billy Joel took to the stage at T-Mobile Park to go over Chuck’s routine on the road, and how he approaches select songs from the Billy Joel songbook.

Pete was in charge of A&R at Atlantic Record for 16 years, and has worked with artists like Santana, Twenty One Pilots, Run DMC, Donna Summer, and Chaka Khan. He now runs his own company called Pure Tone Music, and is the host of the Rock & Roll High School Podcast where he interviews legendary figures in contemporary music. In the episode, Jackson and Pete talk about how he ended up in A&R, what it’s like to work for a historic label like Atlantic, and the creation of his podcast.
