Jonathan currently represents Howard Jones, Loverboy, The Tubes, and Daryl Hall. Guess That Record was born as an idea in the summer of 2021. I had always thought I would enjoy hosting a podcast, so I set to work coming up with an original concept for a music-based podcast. I’ve been collecting vinyl for many years, and from there I came up with the structure of the show where I would interview a guest, and then have them guess the album that we would discuss. Part game show, part podcast…
What do Andy Summers, Dominic Miller, David Paich, Dweezil Zappa, Streetheart, and Kenny Aronoff have in common? They’ve all collaborated with Jackson Reed, the talented and visionary musician from Calgary who’s turning heads with his band, Jackson Reed and The Silverbirds.
Jackson Reed and his band have carved out a unique sound—an eclectic blend of classic rock riffs, 80s-inspired pop hooks, and modern production sensibilities. As former Billboard columnist Bob Smith of The Static Dive describes, “Reed and his band have crafted a unique alt-pop sound that blends classic rock riffs with 80’s pop hooks and modern production techniques.”
Drummer Kenny Aronoff, who worked with Jackson on their track “Dangerous Lover,” shared that it reminded him of his work with John Mellencamp. When asked about the nostalgic feel of his music, Jackson explains: “There’s a hunger out there for the sounds of the past to return. I want to be their representative and ensure that happens.” At just 27, Jackson believes his signature mix of classic rock energy and contemporary pop can connect with a diverse audience. With catchy, radio-friendly melodies and an electrifying live show, Jackson Reed and The Silverbirds are primed for big things.
