9. Al Staehely

Guess That Record reaches double digits! In this tenth episode of the podcast, Jackson interviews Al Staehely. Born and raised in Texas, Al began performing music in the late 60s. After moving to LA, he joined the band Spirit where he served as the bassist and lead vocalist from 1971-1973. He later became an entertainment lawyer, representing musicians such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Johnny Nash. During the episode, Jackson and Al talk about his new album, Al’s experiences backing up artists like Chuck Berry and Keith Moon, and how he’s juggled music and law.

Guess That Record

Guess That Record is a podcast hosted by Canadian musician Jackson Reed. Each week Jackson will sit down with a special guest for an in-depth interview about their career and experiences. Then, the guest will have to guess which album Jackson pulled from his collection, leading to a discussion about the record. A show for anyone that’s a fan of music, Guess That Record will be posting new episodes on Wednesdays!

Guess That Record is back with Jackson interviewing songwriter JP Clark! With over 3 billion streams globally, he has helped shape hits across pop, alternative, and hip-hop, including major records with Bryce Vine (“Drew Barrymore” and “La La Land”) as well as releases with blink-182, Lukas Graham, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and more. In the episode, Jackson and JP talk about his journey in the music business, stories behind his biggest songs, and how he’s beginning to release his own music under his own name.
